Description	Letters regarding De Beer's appointment as Professor of Embryology at UCL in April 1946; his refusal of the offer to become Director of the British Museum (Natural History) in February 1947; his acceptance of the offer to become Director in February 1950; and his resignation from UCL in the same month, including a copy of De Beer's letter of appointment signed by the Principal Trustees of the British Museum (Natural History). Newspaper clipping dated March 1960 regarding De Beer's resignation from the museum. Letters received from the UCL Provost; the Archbishop of Canterbury; the Civil Service Commission; and Sir Henry Dale. Copies of De Beer's outgoing letters are interspersed throughout.
