Description | "Biochronicle", a handmade scientific journal started by Egon in August/September 1901 when he was six years old. Later notes by Helga Hacker(?) attached to the first page state that he started it on holiday in Throngham, Glocs., while Karl Pearson was working on the first issue of Biometrika. For the first two issues Egon had only just learned to read and write and was assisted by his mother, who captioned his drawings at his dictation. Divided into seven separate issues. Consists chiefly of artwork and notes on nature observations such as birds, woodland and plant life made by Egon and Maria Sharpe Pearson, also occasional notes and drawings by Sigrid, Helga, and his aunts Julia and Loetitia Sharpe. No. 3 contains a "letter to the Editor" by Karl Pearson on the subject of birds, and no. 4 includes an illustrated article by W F R Weldon on snails. Also includes some pieces of galley proofs from Biometrika and proofs of plates illustrating crania annotated by Karl Pearson. |
