Description | Watercolour picture of a town viewed from across a river, with a bridge, half-timbered buildings and a cathedral in the background. A man is sitting on a rock in the foreground. Not signed or dated. Note on the reverse of the mount reads: "Note by Julia Sharpe: This picture (with 'William Turner of Oxford' on the frame) hung in my father's dressing room at Highbury during my childhood. It was given to Aunt Lizzie Reid at Gaydon Lodge and after her death, to me." [Julia Sharpe was E S Pearson's aunt]. |
