DescriptionAmendment to a lease, dated 26 August 1686 (2 James II), between:
i) Robert Peirson [Pearson] of Rosedaile [Rosedale], Yorkshire, Husbandman; and:
ii) Thomas Hodgon of Danby, Yorkshire, Yeoman.
Representatives of Princess Katherine, the Queen Dowager, leased to Robert Peirson on the 27th June 1676 42 acres of land with appurtenances and 13 acres of encroached land, situated in Rosedaile [Rosedale], being in the tenure and occupation of Thomas Peirson and William Jackson. Leased for the term of threescore years from the Feast of St Martin the Bishop in Winter last passed [11 November 1675].
Consideration: £3 10s for the 42 acres and 2s 2d for the 13 acres of encroached land = £3 12s 2d in equal installments at Pentecost and the Feast of St Martin
By this indenture, in the event that Robert Peirson predeceases his wife, Hester Peirson, he assigns the moiety or half of the above messuage in the tenure of William Jackson for the use and benefit of Hester for the unexpired term of the lease.
