Contains two hair chains (jewellery chains made of human hair), one of which is a long loop, probably a necklace or bracelet, in an envelope labelled "Mama's Hair May 1st 1868", and the other is a shorter chain with brass findings, probably a watch-chain. Also in this box: a lock of hair in a sealed envelope labelled "Aunt Lizzie's Hair" [probably Elizabeth White, Karl Pearson's maternal aunt], two locks of hair in an envelope labelled "Amy's Hair / 1866 / 1869" [probably Amy Pearson, Karl Pearson's sister], assorted pressed flowers in envelopes, samples of embroidery, poetry, two carte-de-visite photographs of Fanny Pearson [Karl Pearson's mother], a map showing the streets around St Paul's Churchyard with names of businesses marked, a small pocketbook with ivory covers, a miniature book of psalms and an assortment of small trinkets. |
