Description | This sub-series consists of papers belonging to the then General Secretary of Forest School Camps, Ron 'Beefy' Brand. Ron Brand (known to all as 'Beefy' due to his ruddy complexion), was a pivotal figure in the Forest School Camps who was active from the time of Arthur Cobb after World War Two. He had previously joined the Forest School as a staff member in the 1930s alongside other key figures such as Margery Guillen, 'N' Brand (his future wife), and, Mary Roberts. He was General Secretary fom the 1950s until c.1985 and remained committed to FSC until his death in the 1990s. When FSCbecame a Company limited by guarantee and a Charity in 1967, Ron also became Secretary to the Company. |
