DescriptionFive packets in a folder labelled "Fingerprint Apparatus". Consists of the following:
Packet 1: small metal box containing a tube of fingerprint ink and a small wooden block with a honeycomb pattern on front and back.
Packet 2: bundle of fingerprint cards, similar to GALTON/2/9/6/11/3/2. Approximately half of the cards are blank
Packet 3: bundle of 56 cards, each with two fingerprints pasted onto the front. No names included, although most are numbered. The patterns of the fingerprints (e.g. loops, whorls, etc) have been highlighted in pen.
Packet 4: Four wooden knitting needles, which may have been used for organising index cards.
Packet 5: Metal hole punch engraved "I. Sorby". Holes could be made in index cards by positioning the circular end of the tool onto the card and striking the flat end with a hammer. Also a two-piece travel pen
