Includes a letter from Penrose to the Provost Ifor Evans in 1961, expressing his opposition to teaching eugenics and suggestion to change the name of the Chair; reply letter from Ifor Evans agreeing Penrose's suggestion and stating that he will take the matter before the Professorial Board; further correspondence regarding the process of changing the name of the Chair; letter from James Henderson (Academic Registrar) to the Provost, confirming that Galton's benefaction ties closely with the name of the Chair and that the university will need to apply to the High Court or Ministry of Education for an amendment; copy of a lecture by L C Dunn titled 'Cross currents in the history of human genetics', forwarded to Evans by Penrose in support of his suggestion to change the name; ts copy of Penrose's memorandum in support of a name change; signed and sealed scheme of the Ministry of Education renaming the Professorship from Eugenics to Human Genetics, 26 Feb 1963.
