TitleYemenite certificate of appreciation to Gaster
Datec.1880-c.1930
DescriptionA certificate of appreciation dedicated to Moses Gaster, seemingly given to him by the Yemenite community on the occasion of a visit to the Holy Land. The script is a combination of Square Hebrew script and Rashi script.

The top section exalts Gaster and refers to him as ‘the head of all the sages and rabbis of Spharad [of Sephardi Jewish decent] in the lands of England…his honour ro’m [abbreviation of either rabbi and teacher or of a high standing] Dr Moshe Gaster shlit’a [common abbreviated blessing: may he merit long and good days, Amen]’. The phrase in bold in the middle welcomes him and blesses him on his arrival and the bottom section contains a prayer in correlation with that.

Signed by the heads of the Yeminite community and the stamps of three religious institutions:
- The committee of the society TORAH-OR of Jerusalem.
- The committee of the Colel Temonim.
- Jechibath [Yeshiva of] Torat Moche.
