Description | A promotional leaflet/small booklet to raise funds for the nuns of Ypers Abbey, Kylemore, Connemara who were at risk of homelessness following the near destruction of their Convent during the First World War. The goall was to raise 40,000 pounds by means of 1 pound donations for each 'stone' of the Abbey to 'help the poor nuns re-establish their monastic home'. Benefactors of a specific amount would receive an 'impressive souvenir'' consisting of 'a fragment of one of the actual Abbey stones' with artistic additions. |
