This may be the meeting of June 1917 reported in the Manchester Guardian 4th June 1917. The meeting was forced to move from the Mile End Assembly Hall at the last minute and convened instead at the King's Hall, Commercial Road. The meeting was a protest against the proposed deportation of Russian Jews (and other Jewish men of foreign nationalities) who did not register for military service.
