AdminHistory | Ipswich High School was opened in the Assembly Rooms on Northgate Street on 30th April 1878 with 43 pupils under head mistress Sophie Youngman. In May 1907 the school moved to 26 Westerfield Road and from 1913 leased 28 Westerfield Road (Woodview House) for the domestic science department. In 1917 the school started an advanced course in science which was followed in 1920 by an advanced course in modern studies. In 1921 the junior school moved into Fernleigh House on Westerfield Road. In 1992 the school moved to Woolverstone Hall, a Grade 1 listed building. |
