| Description | Papers regarding the schools which were formerly administered by the Girls' Day School Trust and were later closed or transferred to other bodies. Includes general papers and papers regarding the following closed and transferred high schools, namely Carlisle High School, Charters-Ancaster High School, Clapham Modern High School, Clapham High School, Dover High School, Dulwich High School, East Liverpool, Gateshead High School, Highbury and Islington High School, Kensington High School, Paddington and Maida Vale High School, Swansea High School, Tunbridge Wells High School, Weymouth High School and York High School. Does not include any papers regarding Newton Abbott High School or Clapton and Hackney Modern School.
The material held varies, but there tends to be more material on schools which were closed by the Trust, as schools which were transferred to other bodies took their administrative records with them. The schools with the longest history (ie Kensington and Clapham High) also include extensive pupil registers. The extent of the material on each school varies from a few items to a several boxes of material. |
