AdminHistory | Lucy Caroline Lyttelton was born 5 September 1841. In 1864 she married Lord Frederick Charles Cavendish, chief secretary for Ireland, and Lucy was often referred to by her husband's name. After her husband's death in 1882 she was a diarist and became involved in religious educational causes. She was president of the Yorkshire Ladies' Council of Education, 1885-1912, a member of the royal commission on education in 1894, and president of the Friends of Armenia. She died on 22 April 1925.
She was very active in the Girls' Public Day School Trust and was a member of the Council from 1872-1903. |
