| Description | Greenough's copy of his 'Geological Map of England and Wales', 2nd edition. This copy is No. 47. The inventory of sales/disposal for the second edition, in the Geological Society Archives, record this map as being one of twenty that were given to 'Mr Greenough or private distribution' in 1840 and 1841. These were given in batches, presumably upon request by GBG. These private distribution copies were separate from presentation copies. No. 47 was given to GBG on 15th May 1840, having arrived from Mr Arrowsmith - who had the contract for printing and colouring the maps - the previous day. |
