AdminHistoryJames Haliburton, formerly Burton, was the son of James Haliburton who changed his name in early life to Burton; in 1838 James Burton the younger resumed the name of Haliburton.

Throughout this collection both men signed themselves James Burton, but, following archival practice which always refers to a person by the names used at the time of death, the son is listed as James Haliburton at all times.
