AdminHistoryA member of the Beuzeville family (of which a short account is given in Huguenot Society Proceedings, vol. XII (1923), pp. 417-421) appears to have arrived in London as a refugee about 1700. His descendants, including Peter, established a silk manufactory in Spitalfields, which prospered and merged with the firm of Courtauld in 1862. Four members of the family served as Directors of La Providence. Peter, who died in 1812, lived at Norton Folgate in Spitalfields and later at Grays in Oxfordshire.
AcquisitionThese records were purchased at auction at Christie's in 1986, with the aid of a grant from the Friends of the National Libraries.
