Title | Letter from Jean François De Luc, in Amsterdam to his father Jean André De Luc, in The Hague |
Date | 9 Jul 1780 |
Description | Explaining that he was troubled and upset by a letter he had received from Mr Vernède criticising him for his poor abilities in arbitrage. Jean François reports that despite having read the books Mr Vernède had given him on the topic he was still unable to perform it successfully. Jean François' typical lack of confidence appears in the letter as he seeks his father's opinion and approval. The rest of the letter is devoted to giving news of his acquaintances, such as Mr and Mme Perrenot, Mlle Allard and Mr and Mme van Winter. |
