| Description | 'A simple family narrative', by Simeon Henry Hardy, covering the period 1691-1773, presumably having continued until 1799, when it was written, but the end of the narrative has been cut off. This was to serve as an introduction to detailed notes of births, marriages, deaths and other family events (ending in 1809, with a few later additions by other hands) in four numbered sections, the first two in French with translations. Section 1 consists in memoranda by the great grandmother of S H Hardy, mainly of births and marriages in France, but it does not give hers or her husband's name (perhaps Pierre Hardy). Loose in Sections 3 and 4 are two leaves from H B Hardy's family Bible, and three leaves from S H Hardy's 'small Bible', with family entries. |
