AdminHistory | Louis de La Roque (ed.), 'Armorial de la noblesse de Languedoc' (Tolouse, 1863), indicates that six members of the ancient family of De La Roque or Larroque were Capitouls (municipal magistrates) of Toulouse between 1360 and 1643, by virtue of which were entitled to claim nobility. The pedigree by Henry Wagner shows that Pierre or Peter de La Roque, born at Léon or Lione in Languedoc in 1675, was naturalised in England in 1699. He was evidently a son of Pierre de La Roque, whose Declaration of Nobility is F/LR/A/1. He was a captain in Lord Raby's Regiment of Dragoons and had three sons, two of whom became clergymen of the Church of England. The male line in this country seems to have died out in the 18th century but there are descendents of Catherine (Neale), daughter of the Reverend Robert La Roque. |
