TitleTreasurer's day-books and cash accounts
Date1737-1890
DescriptionH/B/11-22 are a continuation of H/B/1-10, in a larger series of books which are designated 'cash account'.
Extent23 volumes
AdminHistoryThe regulations of the Corporation, Ch. III, Art. VI, provided that the Treasurer should keep a register in which he was to write an exact record of all the moneys he received and paid for the use of the Hospital. These accounts were to be submitted yearly, or more often if required, to a committee appointed by the General Assembly (Court); and the committee was to report on them at the next meeting of the Court.
The records contain occasional memoranda not found in H/B/2. The accounts are signed, as certified, by the members of the Accounts Committee (yearly 1737-1740, half-yearly 1741-1742, thereafter quarterly). The gap in the series of volumes coincides with a change in the Treasurership, and this suggests that the books may have been regarded as the Treasurer's private property and sometimes kept at home. Presumably there was an earlier volume or volumes, now lost.
