Description | H/B/2/1-2 titled 'Brouillon (rough draft) du Journal No A', are the preliminary versions of the general accounts under H/B/2/3 and agree with them almost word for word. There are occasional variations or amendments in the fair copy, and the list of Bond's Court houses (4 January 1726/7) has at the end two houses omitted from H/B/2/3. Each page is crossed with a diagonal line in ink, evidently to show that it had been fair copied. The drafts must have been taken from the Treasurer's books (H/B/1-3) each quarterly account being rearranged under subjects. H/B/2/3-4 are a formal record of the Treasurer's debit and credits, derived from H/B/1/1-3 as rearranged in the rough drafts H/B/2/1-2. The dates (quarterly except for 1729-1739, when they are half-yearly) are those of the meetings of the Court of Governors (General Assembly), to which the Accounts Committee reported their audit of the Treasurer's accounts. |
AdminHistory | By a minute of 6 January 1719/20, the Court instructed he Management Committee to buy a book, in which they were to copy the accounts rendered by the Treasurers, past and future. This is evidently the volume catalogued as H/B/2/3. |
