Description | Ledger of Marie Marin and Adam Roumieu, Stewards, for receipt and expenditure. Was started in 1737, as the title page states, as a 'Journal de la Recepte et des payements que Madame Marie Marin fait pour l'Hopital'. This record (partly filling a gap in H/B/5) ceases after two years. From June 1740 - preceded by an index - a well-kept ledger occupies the rest of the book. The main headings are similar to those in the earlier small ledgers, but fewer, many items being entered under 'Dépences Générales'. Also includes summary statements of account between the Treasurer and the Steward. No doubt the starting of this much more imposing series of volumes (H/B/7/6-8) must be connected with the appointment, in January 1740, of a book-keeper, Paul Claudon, whose wages and those of his successors figure in the ledger. |
