TitleSarah Britten, née Rivière
Date6 Jun 1819
DescriptionSarah Britten, a 65 year old woman living in Holborn, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. She is the daughter of Rebecca Newton and Daniel Rivière, who was born in Bordeaux and came to England as a refugee. Sarah is a member of the French Church of Le Quarré. Recently both her arms became paralysed so she can no longer work. Her only income is provided by her church and the Royal Bounty; however, it is barely enough to cover her rent. A note at the end by J L Chirol, Pastor of the French Church of Le Quarré, strongly recommends her and praises her character. The petition is also signed by T F Tiercelin, Elder; John L Marchant, Elder and Sarah Britten herself.
