Description | Louis Dupuis, an 84 year old man, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. He was born in Saint Jacques de la Boucherie, in Paris on 4 April 1741 and came to England with his parents as a young child. His parents, François Dupuis and Anne Lemont, were both Huguenot refugees from Paris. Louis speaks French and attends French churches. He is a candle maker but can no longer work due to his age, and a constant itchiness and tremors in his hands. A note in a different hand by J L Chirol, Pastor of the French Church of Le Quarré, states that whilst not knowing the petitioner himself, everything he has heard from others, as well as the documents presented by Louis Dupuis confirm the account in his petition. The petition bears the sign of Louis Dupuis and is also signed by Jean Joseph Tiercelin, Samuel Turner, Frederick Fowne, John White, Chris Bickhenffen (?), Richard Griffiths, John Murrey, Peter Paris, William Faust and William Ward. All the signatories give their address. |
