Description | Esther Stedman, a 69 year old widow from Bethnal Green, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. Her parents were Huguenot refugees from Poitou. Esther lost her husband thirty years previously and had to bring up her three children on her own. Her late father used to be a doorman at the French Church of La Patente. Esther works in the silk industry for Mr Delamare but suffers from several conditions, in particular poor eyesight. As a result, she cannot work enough hours to be financially independent. The petition bears her mark and is also signed by Charles Scholl, Pastor; Jaque Mousset and Pierre Fontaneau. |
