DescriptionJacques Gallois, a 70 year old widower, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. His father, also called Jacques, died at the French Hospital 38 years previously. His grandfather, also called Jacques, was originally from Charenton, near Paris and had been an elder of the French Church of Leicesterfields for nine years. His grandmother's parents, Guilleaume and Rachel were both French and Rachel's parents, Aaron and Rachel Pain, came to England as refugees with their nine children immediately after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes.
Jacques was a clockmaker but had to stop working due to his worsening eyesight. The petition is signed by Pierre Aubertin, Minister at Chipstead in Surrey; Richard Grellier; J Q Lebez; Nolders & Company and J A Cummings.
