Description | Marie Anne Wright, a 64 year old widow, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. She has suffered from severe rheumatism so has not been able to work as a weaver for several years. Her late husband, who died on 28 March 1827, contracted an infection that affected his leg and spread to Marie's left hand whilst she was caring for him. Mr Byles, a surgeon, suggested that her hand will have to be amputated. Furthermore, Marie's daughter died on 28 February, leaving four children. A note in a different hand by A Platrier confirms that the information given is true. The petition is also signed by Charles Scholl, Pastor; John J Battier and C A Corde. |
