TitleSusanne Jalant
Date18 Sep 1832
DescriptionSusanne Jalant, a 71 year old woman, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. Her father, Gédéon Jalant, was born in Berlay [probably Bernay], in France and came to England to avoid religious persecution. Susanne suffers from several conditions so can no longer work in the silk industry. Furthermore, the work she was doing has been mechanised so it would be extremely difficult for her to find another position. The petition bears Susanne Jalant's mark and is signed by James Vernell, Peter Fremont and J B Galiegue.
