Description | Jean Lelong, a 62 year old man, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. He is the the son of Joseph Lelong from Bohain, in Picardy. Jean's eyesight is now so bad that even glasses do not help him. Furthermore, he suffers from rheumatism and has lost the ability to move his arms. The petition is signed by Jaques Legreu and Jean Bernard. At the back, a note signed by de la Chaumette, dated 14 April 1783, states that the petitioner's Huguenot origins had been confirmed by the late Mme Godin. Also, Jean Lelong had received favourable references from members of an esteemed household where he had been known for thirty years. |
