| Description | Marie Middleton, a 54 year old widow, and her daughter request to be admitted to the Hospital. Marie was born in London on 22 January 1742 and was baptised at the French Church of the Artillery. Her grandfather, Charles De La Porte, was originally from Gardoux [probably Gardouch], near Toulouse, in Languedoc. She used to work in the silk industry but is now too unwell to continue. Furthermore, she needs to look after her 30 year old daughter who suffers from severe rheumatism and needs constant care.
