DescriptionThis is the second petition sent by Abraham Iuard, the first one is H/D/2/9/9. Abraham Iuard, a 70 year old silk weaver, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. His father, also called Abraham, was from Saint-Quentin, in Normandy. He is now paralysed so can no longer work and look after himself. He was a sailor in the Navy for three years. The petition is signed by François Jolit and P Renvoize. Overleaf is a letter from Mercier to the Directors of the Hospital. He explains that this petition had been presented to him again and he believed it should be a case worth considering. Mercier states that the French origins of Abraham are without doubt as he had been a pupil in their school and his apprenticeship had been organised by the Consistory of the French Church of London. His children have also abandoned him so he has no one that can help. The letter is dated 15 August 1800.
