Description | Charlotte Harwood, a 64 year old widow, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. She was born on 16 March 1777. Her father, Daniel Lecand, was originally from Luneray, in Normandy. He left France to avoid religious persecution and settled in London where he worked as a weaver and later, a dyer. Charlotte's mother was Sarah Lecand, born in England. Charlotte' s husband was an Excise Officer who died on 7 June 1840. She cannot work following an injury to her right arm and has no income. Her eldest son, a labourer, is currently supporting her financially. A note at the end states that the petitioner's uncle, David Lecand, was a resident at the French Hospital and also acted as door keeper for circa forty years. The petition is signed by Charlotte Harwood and Richard James Griffith. |
