| Description | Mary Ann Rice, a 60 year old widow, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. She was born on 19 July 1783. Her parents were Bartholomew Bourgue and Mary Young. Her father, was a Huguenot from Bordeaux who had worked at the French Hospital for 37 years as a surgeon. He died in May 1797. Mary Ann's late husband, Thomas Rice, was an 'army accoutrement maker' who died in 1830, leaving the petitioner with their four children and no financial support. Mary Ann suffers from several conditions and cannot work. The petition is signed by herself only.
