TitleFrederick Myers' petition
Date25 Apr 1847
DescriptionFrederick Myers, a 46 year old man, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. He was born on 12 December 1802. His parents were Frederick and Elizabeth Myers. The latter was a descendant of the Manu, or Menou family, who were Protestant corn factors, originally from Bordeaux. Frederick used to be a coach and harness plater but now suffers from rheumatism in the limbs so can no longer work. The petition is signed by Frederick Myers himself and George Nash.
A note at the back from James Mathewson states that had known the petitioner for nine years and he was of sound character. A further note in the petitioner's hand, states that his maternal grandmother and mother had received funds from the Coqueau Charity. The Secretary of the French Hospital commented at the end, that Marthe Menou had been admitted to the Hospital with the help of the Coqueau Charity on 1 March 1806. In her application, she had stated that she descended from the Barbut family, who used to attend the French Church of Les Grecs.
