TitleFrances Felton's petition
Date28 Sep 1849
DescriptionFrances Felton, a 63 year old widow, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. She was born on 8 March 1786. Her parents were John Cole and Judith Penier. The latter's father, John Penier was originally from Normandy but came to England to avoid religious persecution. Frances used to be a servant and her late husband was a journeyman weaver, who died of cholera. She now winds quills for silk weaving but cannot earn enough to support herself after her husband's death. The petition bears Frances Felton's mark and is signed by Joseph Bartholomew.
At the back, a note states that the petitioner's mother had attended the Westminster French Protestant School.
Petition n. 1276.
