DescriptionJane Brown, a 72 year old widow, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. She was born on 19 October 1779. Her parents were Isabella Ballie and James Ferry. The latter's father, Jacob Ferry, was a Protestant from Lyons who came to England in c. 1700 and was a member of the French Church. The name of the specific church he attended is not given. Jane used to wind silk but now suffers from poor eyesight and general ill health so can no longer work. The petition bears Jane Brown's mark and is signed by Thomas Pickard.
