AdminHistory | In pursuance of the authority given by the Act of Parliament of 1808 (a copy of which is found in H/E/5/2), land in St. Luke's parish, including the actual site of the Hospital, held on long leases of over 900 years, was sub-let on leases from various dates, 1810 to 1820, for terms of about 60 years, expiring in 1872 or 1879. This land, with the houses built on it, consequently fell back into the possession of the Hospital, as the long lease-holders, some in 1872 and the rest in 1879. The houses were then re-let on shorter leases, mostly for 21 years, but in 1881 90 year leases were granted for the Radnor Street School and adjacent properties. |
