Description | Includes on the inside front cover an extract from the will of Louis Royrand Desclouseaux (1721) concerning his legacy to the French Hospital for the maintenance of a Poitevin or Breton Protestant to be nominated by the Society. On f 1 there is an account of general receipts and expenditure. The accounts of subscriptions and distributions follow, as in H/M/1/1/, with very occasional remarks. At the end of each year there are a few items of general receipt (e.g. dividends from stock and the change contributed after paying the 'scot' at committee dinners) and expenditure (e.g. a chair to carry the Minister to church, fees for carrying letters, apprenticeship premiums). On f 23 the whole committee of 17 sign a consent to a change of investment from South Sea Stock to South Sea Annuities. On ff 76-77 there is an account of the apprenticeship charity (Anne des Landes and Thomas Bureau bequests), from 1715 to 1735. The names of apprentices or parents and of a few masters are given. On f 77 is a statement of capital funds, and attached a signed agreement (10 April 1735) to place the balance with Mr James Binet at 4% interest. On the back cover and page facing there is a resolution by the Society, at an extraordinary meeting of 7 November 1737, approving the employment, for the general charitable purposes of the Society, of surplus funds from the apprenticeship charities. |
