TitleFragment of 'Expenditure Book'
Date1754-1756
DescriptionThese 8 pages seem to be the remains of the volume described in the 1739 inventory (see H/M/2) as: '7. A long expenditure book'. Running from December 1754 to March 1756, these accounts give detailed quarterly lists of bread and flour supplied to the 'Maison de Charité', with names of suppliers; and also of expenditure by the Steward, Louis Royer, on his own quarterly salary and miscellaneous purchases similar to those in the Steward's cash account, which however do not exist for this period. Each bill is certified and signed by three Directors authorizing payment by the Treasurer. The total of each bill appears in the Treasurer's day book (H/M/2/3), but no details, so that this fragment affords a glimpse of the Charity's detailed expenditure at a date for which no other record survives.
