Description | Payments charged against £7500 paid to the French Committee in November 1699. Signed Braguier. Examined 26 January 1702 by Wm. Fawkener and John Denew. This £7500 was part of the £12000 grant deposited by order of the Lords Directors in the Bank of England in tallies upon the 25% augmentation duties on all French goods. It was paid to the French Committee by Mr. Miller of the Bank of England in two instalments under warrants of the Lords Directors. Categories of relief: 1) Persons of quality 2) Of the middle condition 3) Special grants 4) Proselytes 5) Of the meaner sort, block grants 57 pp. |
