Date1809-1960
DescriptionRules and orders, 1809 (established 1800); and Bye-Laws, 1812-1824; with membership register, 1813-1960 and Printed Acts of Parliament.
These Rules are a revised version evidently arising from the legislation on Friendly Societies which was enacted between 1793 and 1819. It is stated at the end that they were established on 11 January 1800 at the Weavers' Arms, Brown's Lane, Spitalfields, and revised (1809) by a committee 'appointment agreeably to the Act, ... and now presented to the Quarter Sessions to be enrolled.' A memorandum of enrolment at Middlesex Quarter Sessions on 2 November 1809 is attached to the page following the Rules, with signatures of 39 members.
