Description | The Minutes are generally fuller than SN/B/1; they include a report of some length, dated 23 November 1876, by a committee set up to review the Society's position and to revise the Rules in accordance with the Friendly Societies Act of 1875. On 7 May 1861 an illuminated address was presented to John Ferry (Secretary since 1854) and it was agreed to print his paper on the Society's rise and progress. On 29 November 1865 a complimentary supper was given to Charles Greenwood, Treasurer 1849-1864 and a member for fifty years. The volume also contains, on pages preceding the Minutes: election of arbitrators, 1877; list of trustees, 1842-1882; and election of stewards for the 150th Anniversary Dinner, 1853. Following the 1852 accounts and 1863 minutes there are lists of candidates for membership, with ages, 1848-1872 and occupations, 1854-1872. At the end of the book, reversed, is a register of names and address of members, c 1852-1870, with dates of admission (1795-1870). |
