Description | Minutes of the Proceedings of Contributing Members, 1786-1811, with Treasurer's Accounts, 1796-1802 and Accounts of Delaigle Trustees, 1785-1811. The volume is entitled: 'Proceedings ... with respect to the application of Mrs M M Delaigle's Trust', and is mainly concerned with the approval and placing out of Delaigle apprentices, for which purpose a meeting of contributing members was held annually on Easter Tuesday. Usually only this one yearly meeting was held. From 1801, small monthly grants from the Poor Fund are recorded. On p 61 there is a list of members, 1811, with addresses (twelve members only). Minutes run from p 1 to p 61, finishing (after an interruption by accounts) on pp 70-71. At the end of the book, reversed, are a legal note on stamp duty as applicable to apprenticeship indentures, and a copy of a notice advertising the apprenticeship charity, to be read in the French churches. Next come the accounts, as above, on unnumbered pages. After the Delaigle accounts for 1791 there is a memorandum by Thomas Witherby, Secretary for the Delaigle Trust, explaining a 'chasm' of five years (1792-1796) and referring to another book of accounts, which evidently related to the Poor Fund. Minutes of 1812-1813, on four small leaves, bound into the volume, came from a book started in 1812 but replaced by SSA/A/2. |
