AdminHistoryA working party (see IE/2/ATP/3) was originally established by the Committee of Principals to consider the whole question of teaching practice, in particular the aims of school practice, the best method of using the facilities available and to assess the available resources in the next few years and their distribution among colleges. It held its first meeting in September 1964 and was reconstituted as the Advisory Committee on Teaching Practice June 1965 to advise the Co-ordinating Officer to examine problems and make proposals in connection with the rationalisation of teaching practice arrangements and to study the possibility of closer collaboration between schools and colleges. In 1965 the terms of reference were to:
- examine probems and make proposals in connection with the rationalisation of the teaching practice arrangements, making sure that schools were not used by to many colleges (to be carried out in negotiation with the schools, colleges and local education authorities)
- study the possibility of closer collaboration between schools and colleges, with special reference to the help that may be give by school staff in teaching practice and the development of closer relationships between individual schools and colleges.

Membership comprised representatives from the local education authorities, schools, the committee of principals (see IE/2/CPR) - including the chair, and three education lecturers
