One folder comprises the correspondence of Kathleen Barker, administrator in the School Relations Office, regarding the work of the committee.

Once the decision had been made to dissolve the Area Training Organisation, and the subsequent closure of the central co-ordinating office had taken place, meetings were only held on an annual basis. The meeting planned for May 1980 was cancelled due to insufficient business, and the meeting planned for 1981 appears not to have taken place.

AdminHistoryThe Council established an Advisory Committee on College / School Relations to:
- examine problems and make recommendations in connection with the rationalisation of the teaching practice, and other school based activities subject to appropriate consultation
- promote research into the dissemination of information about current practice and promising innovation and to examine matters pertaining to college/ /school relationships with a view to extending their scope and increasing their effectiveness.

Membership comprised representatives from the Local Education Authorities, committee of principals (IE/2/CPR), panels of the standing committee in education, 6 practicing teachers, and - as ex-officio members - the Dean of the Institute, Chair of the Committee of Principals, and Co-ordinating Officer for the Teaching Practice.

It ran alongside the Advisory Committee on Teaching Practice which had a similar remit (see IE/2/ATP/3). Its role was also closely linked to that of the School Relations Office (see IE/2/SRO)
