"Bhabananda Dutta had a great philosophical mind and the same has been revealed in all his writings. Primarily he was a philosopher and secondarily a literary critic of high standard. Being a versatile genius, he touched upon every sphere of human thought---literary, philosophical, religious, ethical, economic and political. Dutta was born in 1918 at Jorhat.After his graduation from Cotton College, he joined in the post graduate class in the Department of Philosophy, Calcutta University.He got a firstclass in his M.A. Examination. Then he proceeded to London for pursuing his doctoral research in the University of London. But he could not finish his research work there due to his participation in an important seminar held at Prague, capital of Czechoslovakia. It was organized by UNESCO. He came back to India in 1949 and joined Cotton College as a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy. Afterwards he joined as a faculty member in the department of Philosophy, Gauhati University. Unfortunately Dutta died of cancer on the 3rd of August in 1949." |
