CustodialHistoryThe papers were delivered to the Institute by the family, following the death of Jimmy Britton in 1994. They were later assessed and found to contain the personal archive of Jimmy Britton and the papers of two research projects on English across the curriculum. The two collections have been appraised and sorted into the two distinct collections. The papers were transferred to the IOE Archives in 2012.

Other collections found in the same location were the papers of Nancy Martin (Acc No DC/07/11; Ref No NM) and the records of the Schools Council project 'The Development of Writing Abilities, 11-18' and the 'Writing Across the Curriculum' (Acc No DC/09/11 Ref WRI).
