Earlier in 1989 (8-11 April) he also visited Halle for the Annual Meeting of the Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina, and correspondence relating to this is also included. Correspondence re invitations, travel, applications for travel grants, arrangements and programmes. Some correspondence is in German, particularly re Leopoldina meeting.
