DescriptionThe Schools Council Industry Project, working in conjunction with the CBI and TUC, began work in 1977. Its remit was to investigate ways in which schools can help pupils to gain a greater understanding of industry and the industrial society in which they lived. Initially working with five Local Education Authorities (LEAs) in 1981 the Project expanded its work to 22 additional authorities. By 1984 when the group's name changed to the School Curriculum Industry Project, after the abolition of the Schools Council, the Project was working with 50 local authorities. Martin Lightfoot was Director of the Project from 1977-1981. Comprises papers regarding packs put together for schools by the Project.
